Clinical Supervision

I am a qualified Clinical Supervisor and a BACP Accredited member working with Counsellor’s and trainee’s.  Person-centred theory is the core foundation on which I trained, which flows throughout my counselling and supervsion practice.  Supervisee’s can expect me to be present, real, empathic, compassionate and respectful.  I prioritise the relationship so supervisee’s feels safe and heard in order for you to trust that I will help and support your clients.

I come from a place of therapeutic curiosity where I will welcome you to take the lead, collaborating with you to generate your own ideas and approach to cultivate your own internal supervisor.  I will always respect your autonomy and experience, however at times I will gently challenge you to give some non-judgemental feedback or suggestions to support your client work.

What can you expect from me as your Supervisor?

As your Supervisor I will offer a reflective space to assist you and ensure that your way of working feel’s right for you.  My aim is to help you develop your own style and identity as a Counsellor.

I am really committed and curious about connecting to what’s happening with your client and your relationship with them.  This can help you both to gain further insight and a deeper understanding.  I love the energy and lightbulb moments that this can bring to supervision.  I always trust and respect that you know your client better than me, so wouldn’t be telling you what to do with them.

What experience do I have?

I am bringing 18 years of counselling experience to supervision.  This includes supporting young people in a sexual health clinic, and working with women and young people who have experienced domestic abuse, sexual abuse, rape and/or sexual assault within a statutory service.  I have also worked within an addiction and mental health support service.

I have a busy private practice and would love to help you on your journey with this if you are thinking about setting up, or with ongoing support to manage your practice.

Do you work with supervisee's who are trained in other modalities from you?

Whilst my core training is within the Person-Centred approach and will be reflected in supervision, I welcome therapist’s from all modalities.  I may at times dovetail other supervision models to provide focus and a reflective space to pinpoint practice issues.  The Clinical Supervision Diploma I trained in, allowed me the opportunity to support and learn from Counsellor’s from all modalities, which I believe has enriched my experience as a Supervisor.  I love hearing supervisee’s different perspectives to keep clients safe and well, and know that regardless of modality the therapeutic relationship is at the centre of the work.

I have a supervisor already. Can I have you as and additional supervisor?

Yes. This is a personal decision for Counsellor’s depending on what work’s for you and your needs. Some might find it useful to have separate supervisor’s to cover different aspects of their practice or different client presentations.  I am open to diversity in supervision and would explore fully an agreement to contract about risk and what client’s would be brought to me in supervision to prevent any ethical issues.

What can I bring to supervision?

You can discuss anything that is going to support you to evaluate and have a balanced and realistic understanding and assessment of your practice and enhance confidence with your clinical skills.  Supervision is to help you to practice within your competency and within the professional standard’s of your ethical framework to reduce risk to your client’s. I will look to you to bring the things that best supports your needs. This might be client issues and difficulties, the therapeutic relationship, self-evaluation, your approach, theory, training course requirements, blind spots, CPD needs, ethics, Accreditation, dilemmas, boundaries and private practice practicalities. Although supervision is not therapy, I encourage supervisee’s to discuss what’s going on with them personally if the need arises.  You staying well as a therapist, helps to keep the client’s safe and well.  I will regularly check in with you to review how we are working together and if anything needs to change, so you are getting the service and support you need.

Do you offer supervision online?

Yes.  As well as face-to-face supervision, I am very happy to support you online or on the phone.  This can make it easier to fit around your clients, placement, work and lifestyle.  I am trained with a Certificate in Online and Telephone Counselling to support any online client’s you have.

What is your fee?

My fee is £50 per hour and £75 for 1 hour 30 minutes for qualified Counsellor’s.  I have a reduced fee for trainee Counsellor’s which is £40 per hour and £60 for 1 hour 30 minutes.  This can be paid by bank transfer, card payment or cash depending on how you see me.

Am I the right supervisor for you?

Thank you for your interest in working with me in supervision. Hopefully this have given you a sense of how I work and who I am as a supervisor.  I aim to be transparent, knowledgeable, collaborative and also invite an element of fun to bring lightness to work that can be complex and heavy at times.  Please contact me to book your free 30 minute consultation, or to ask any questions that might help you with your decision and get the supervisory relationship you need.
